Linde Kerckhofs is an assistant professor with a Ph.D. in auditing who studies the people behind the audit profession. Her research explores how auditors’ personality, motivation, work environment, and other characteristics shape professional judgment, ethical decision-making, and career development. By combining insights from psychology and accounting, she investigates what helps auditors make high-quality decisions, build trust with clients and colleagues, and thrive in demanding work environments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Her work also examines topics such as leadership, career choices, employee retention, learning from errors, and well-being within audit firms. Ultimately, her goal is to better understand the human side of auditing and identify how organizations can support professionals in making sound decisions, upholding high ethical standards, and creating healthier, more effective workplaces. Her research has been published in leading journals, including Auditing: A Journal of Practice & Theory, Accounting Horizons, and the International Journal of Auditing.
